About The Author

Shubhanshi Chakraborty

Shubhanshi Chakraborty

Shubhanshi Chakraborty is a visionary storyteller and environmental advocate, shaped by her family's deep-rooted commitment to social responsibility. Growing up amidst tribal communities, she developed a profound appreciation for their cultural traditions, rituals, and enduring resilience. Inspired by her father's selfless service to society, she set out to amplify the voices of these communities through the powerful medium of cinema.
Her passion for filmmaking led her to the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), where she refined her craft before directing Natok—an evocative and compelling film that captures the struggles and artistry of Chhau dancers. The film has received widespread acclaim, winning nine prestigious awards and earning selections at 18 national and international film festivals. At a remarkably young age of 15, Shubhanshi has emerged as one of the most promising filmmakers in the industry, with her impactful work featured in leading publications such as The Telegraph and The Times of India.
Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science and Sustainability, Shubhanshi is committed to integrating ancient wisdom with modern solutions to forge a more sustainable future. A passionate researcher, she believes that traditional knowledge holds invaluable insights for addressing contemporary environmental challenges.
