Dr. Kamaxi Bhate is a professor of Preventive and Social medicine and has been teaching UG/PG/Nursing students in G. S. Medical College for 29 years. She is also in charge of the Patient Education Centre & Malvani Urban Health Centre.

Dr. Bhate has authored several medical booklets. In collaboration with Dr. R. D. Bapat, she wrote a weekly column in the Marathi newspaper Loksatta, which was compiled and published as a book titled Swasthyavedh. She has been actively involved in preparing flipcharts, posters & training materials for KEM Hospital, UNICEF, and NGOs like Path Finder, NACO, CCDT, etc.

He is the former Chairman of Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Ltd; former Governing Council member of Tata Memorial Centre; former Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Mission University of Health Sciences; and former Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

Dr. Bapat’s research interests are Surgical Jaundice and Pancreatitis. He is the recipient of various awards. His publications include Art of Clinical Presentation in Surgery, Companion to Surgical Pathology, Ward No.5, KEM (Marathi & English), Swasthyavedh (Marathi & Gujarati) and Postmortem (Marathi & Gujarati).
